Born in Nome, raised in Juneau, lived in Denali, Fairbanks, Nome (again), and now Petersburg. Songwriting bloomed from poetry which sprouted from journal writing. I'm curious, observant, expressive, and grow by sharing.
New Release 2025: Door to Door
2014: Walking Singing Loving Being, written in Nome, AK as I raised kids, ran my business Bearing Song, picked berries, lost diamonds, reveled in the storms, celebrated my Grandma Mary's life, was amazed by friends who met and married, walked to Bering Tea and home again with a latte in my hands for my husband and wrote songs about it all. I began by recording in Fairbanks at 10th Planet but discovered I lost all my thread between trips. I then asked my talented friend, engineer, independent artist Karl Blau to let me employ him on an all expenses trip to Nome, Ak. It was productive time and I am very grateful to have had him visit and contribute his touch to the recording.
2008: Treasure A Storm Can Bring, suddenly married and pregnant, I was living in Nome! I found my way to a recording studio in Anchorage and worked with Kurt Riemann at Surreal Studios. The songs consist of my search for solid ground, songs of falling in love with my husband and steadying myself there. Songs written in my Bias Drive cabin on a piano, by a window, where the stars shone in on my fingers as they carefully played out a song about my overwhelming love for God. Songs about landing in Nome where I was born and making a new way there, one song about a flat tire and one song by my friend Laura Davis (now Collins).
2003: All I Can See was recorded in Fairbanks at 10th Planet. My most highly produced and richly ornamented album. I had playing time, performance opportunity, a community of musicians, a solid job and a dry cabin with low rent. All of this led to a great recording with Pat FItzgerald, Robin Dale Ford and Ron Veliz and a star studded cast of Fairbanks contributing musicians. The songs were inspired by my move to Fairbanks and observations there in; living in a sauna, buying a teapot when what I needed was a snow shovel, a twisted lover (or two), a couple of shooting stars, my dear friends wedding, and Queen Mab.
2000: Breaking Strings, songs recorded in Juneau at Skate Bottom Sound. Inspired by Bellingham love, my work with elderly at a recovery home, a summer with Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater, Fairbanks love, Juneau love and a cover of Greg Brown's song Never Shine Sun, which I loved.
1998: Something More Than Beautiful, songs written while in college in Bellingham, WA. I performed as soon as I could make a pretty sound on the guitar. I recorded as soon as I was asked for a recording. The songs were inspired by missing my Southeast, AK home, finding love outside and inside myself, loosing sight and finding it again.
